How to Add or Edit User Roles in Evolution

Adding a New User Role

  1. Navigate to User Management in Evolution.
  2. Click Roles.
  3. Click Role to create a new role.
  4. Enter a name in the Role Name field.
  5. Click Permissions.
  6. Select the permissions you would like to assign to the role.
  7. Click Save to create the new role.

Editing an Existing User Role

If you need to change the permissions associated with an existing role, you do not need to create a new one.

  1. Navigate to User Management in Evolution.
  2. Click Roles.
  3. Locate the existing role you would like to modify in the list of roles.
  4. Select edit in the icon for the role to open its details.
  5. Click Permissions to review the permissions currently assigned to the role.
  6. Check or uncheck permissions to grant or remove access to specific functions within Evolution.
  7. Click Save to apply your changes.

Important: Changes to an existing role will affect all users assigned to that role. Before modifying permissions, consider whether the changes should apply to everyone using that role. If only certain users need different permissions, creating a separate role may be more appropriate.

Applying Permission Changes

NOTE: Users must log out of Evolution and log back in for permission changes to take effect. This applies to both newly assigned roles and changes made to existing roles.
